Naschitz Brandes Amir’s leading class action practice combines broad litigation experience with comprehensive knowledge of the industries in which clients operate. - Successfully represented Chocotrade in a class action, amounting to more than NIS 6 million, involving allegations that the company violated the Anti Kosher Fraud Act. In June 2022 the District Court of Tel Aviv denied certification and awarded judgment in favor of our client.
- Representing Lucy Borchard Shipping, Israel Scandinavian Maritime Agency, Tiran Shipping in an appeal to the Supreme Court after a class action alleging that fees that were charged violated the applicable regulations was denied by the District Court. In its decision, the Supreme Court approved the District Court’s judgment, finding no error in it, and made it final.
- Successfully defended Hypertoy (Toys R ” Us Israel) in a class action alleging privacy infringement due to aggressive nonconsensual email advertising. This was the first local case where the judge accepted the defense argument that the messages were sent in error and concluded, as a result, that a class action was unjustified, denying the motion for certification.
- Representing Telepharma, one of Israel's leading pharmacy chain stores and a supplier to the Ministry of Defense and disabled soldiers of the IDF, in several consumer class actions, including a price labeling class action and a class action relating to alleged misleading sales, through the supply of drugs and non-availability of certain medications.
- Defended Dubek , the largest Israeli manufacturer of tobacco products, against claims by smokers, governments, and health authorities.
- Representing RCL Cruises Limited (Royal Caribbean International), the leading US-based global cruise company, in a US$ 46.2 million class action concerning the cancellation of the 2021 cruise season due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
- Representing Leumit Health Services, an Israeli Public health service provider, in a class action brought by one of its clients, alleging infringement of client rights for medical data privacy.
- Representing Bioavenir, an Israeli private pharmaceutical company, in a class action filed by one of its clients, alleging that a medicine by the commercial name Proavenir ” (a generic version of Profecia by MSD), a medicine prescribed to men who suffer hair loss, can cause physical and mental damages that are not warranted in the pamphlet attached to the medicine. Our team is now defending Bioavenir before the Israeli District Court (Central District).
- Representing Mei Avivim in a class action totaling $US 114 million alleging defaults of water meters and collection of water and waste service fees. Our team also represents Mei Avivim in a class action relating to the collection of municipal expenses, allegedly in excess of the permitted amounts.
- Representing Caesarstone, a publicly traded manufacturer of quartz surfaces in 150 plus personal injury claims (including class actions) alleging product liability and product defects.
- Representing Phoenix Insurance Company and its reinsurers, in a US$ 16.5 million claim for insurance benefits relating to a large-scale oil leak in the southern part of Israel followed by four class actions concerning the alleged environmental damages allegedly caused to the Evrona nature reserve and its vicinity.
- Representing Gulliver Tourism, the leading Israeli travel services provider, and an ongoing client, in several class actions relating to tourism and consumer issues.
